Slashy

Thirteen Ways by Sinope. Lupin/Snape.

Third Time's the Charm. by [livejournal.com profile] helenish. Lupin/Snape.

Misanthropy, Lycanthropy, and the Pursuit of Knowledge. by [livejournal.com profile] prillalar Lupin/Snape.

Underwater Light, Chapter 20. by Maya. Harry/Draco. (OMG!!)

And everything here.

Gen-ish

Snakes and Ladders. by Alvira. Harry/Draco, kid.

Assisted Suicide. by Ishafel. Draco, Snape. (I found the general inertia in this story rather disturbing--I kept wishing they would just give him Prozac.)

Lost Boys. by Ishafel. Draco, Ron, Harry.

Deficient. by Zahra. Oliver(/Marcus).

A few more fanfics that contain dysfunctional relationships and that I've read recently, but are not themselves so recent:

He never thought he'd get used to it, but he did. by [livejournal.com profile] honey_wheeler. Harry/Neville. NC-17.

Reparations by [livejournal.com profile] helenish. Draco/Neville. NC-17. WIP.

Your Darkest Voice by [livejournal.com profile] ivyblossom. Harry/Draco, Ginny/Draco, Ginny/Bill. X. Unlike the other dysfunctional stories in this list, this one was actually rather depressing. And also more dysfunctional, what with the incest and issues of consent. Why do I read these things??

I'm branching out; instead of spending too much time reading Harry/Draco fanfic, I'm spending too much time reading other HP pairings. I'm also reading some nonfiction and may eventually read original fiction again some day. I feel accomplished.

These are good:

Night-blooming Heartsease by Julad. Snape/Neville. R?

A Soft Spot for Lost Causes by [livejournal.com profile] helenish. Draco/Ron. NC-17.

Close Enough by [livejournal.com profile] helenish. Harry/Ron. NC-17.

This is not good:

Seduction of the Innocent. a book published in 1953 by some quack psychiatrist who thinks Wonder Woman is a "phallic woman" who discourages girls from becoming passive, demure heterosexuals. I was hoping the book would have parody value, but it just put me to sleep.

It's 3 a.m. here, and I'm on the edge of my computer chair, my pina colada long since finished. I'm reading A Thousand Beautiful Things by Duinn Fionn. R? NC-17? Harry/Draco, of course. This is better than coffee! I'm more awake now than I was during the day. Woo-hoo for the suspension-of-disbelief rush! Or perhaps I'm simply delirious from lack of sleep.

Nobody tell me what happens! I'm assuming it's some variant of a happy ending, and if it isn't, well, it's too late to stop reading it now. Chapter 5, dude! Vows of silence are cool. I've tried to do that myself. Why I even need to try may baffle some people, but some people are perhaps not aware of how much I talk when I'm alone.
